well, if you are going to be living closer to your Mrs. hometown you will find out that many folks think that everything outside of chicago is the boonies. (you can even find those people who have never left chicago thinking there is nothing outside of the city!...very strange people)

2nd semester...getting closer to the end! And yeah, hubby was saying he had to go to work again this next week (he took off the end of the year pto stuff--use it or lose it) and not looking forward to it either (especially with the temps mentioned on the news--and a winter storm advisory

I already know they think that. And everything is Southern to them... Technically we are still part of Northern if you look at a map, but we call ourselves Central. But nope, it is Southern to them... Oh well.

2nd semester is 5 months long compared to 1st semesters 4 months but usually feels shorter. I think that is because we are heading to the end, not struggling to get to the middle.

hm...yeah by january you feel like you have gotten at least half way so the 2nd half doesnt feel as long I guess--downhill instead of uphill.

and yeah, anything south of joliet is south (heck, they think that anything NOT in the city is south--even rockford!....they are just...weird).

snow and cold, had to get the car started today, and it didnt want to, think our driveway hill is making it hard to get gas to the engine and not flood it, but after about 1/2 hour of trying/shoveling snow/trying/chiseling windows/trying/more chiseling...it finally decided to start. (hubby is working at home this week due to his new years cold--had a fever 100.4 so I wouldnt let him go in nor go outside). and now we have even more snow and even colder outside...guess I will get to do this again tomorrow

Chicagoians are weird... Very very weird.

Yup snow and cold here too... Not enough for a snow day so yay... I guess... We got a few inches so hopefully the roads, and the parking lots, are fairly clear. But I'm not holding my breath...

car started this morning (made hubby start it--subaru likes him and then let him drive around while the guys cleared our driveway ----goood timing there!), not as cold as yesterday though...still quite cold.

now its time to warm up and get some sleep!

Mine started as well. I was able to get out without having to clear snow but wow, the roads were complete and utter crap... Just awful. Took 45 mins to get in. Normally takes me 25... Sigh. Oh well, made it in safely and home safely so I guess I shouldn't complain to much.

Got home and went out and cleared behind where I park, because it would be too hard for them to actually clear it well. Then came in and had to get my pet beardie feed and then made my lunch for tomorrow. All while my mom is telling me her school already called tomorrow off since it is supposed to be SUPER cold... yay...

hope you didnt have to go to work in this just too dangg blastedly cold to be outside long (todays temp may have hit 0 /really cold and sad panda)

got my hot cocoa and blankees out and my heater has been going like crazy the whole day.

They called off school for me today and my mom has already had her school cancel tomorrow along with 90% of the other districts, including D150. Who never call off. They have called off 2 days in a row now. So we will see if I get another 5am call.

I avoided going outside at all today. Stayed inside where it was nice and warm. Go me.

at least you didnt have to go in--lots of the school around here were closed, but the staff had to report in...and we had a nice blizzard today, and as it happens I had to be out in it

very very unhappy panda today, cold, windy and snow blowing everywhere at times visibility was less than 500 feet. Not my favorite driving weather....at least the car started (complained about it first, but did start).

I have had that before. Last year we got the first day off, which was supposed to be teachers institute. The next day, which was even worse, we had to report in but students didn't have to come. Oh well. Got another day off today due to awful road conditions caused by blowing snow. I won't complain. So I worked 2 days this week and then had 3 days off. Mini-vaca!

I actually went out yesterday. Figured since my mom had the day off I would go hang out over there. Car started and everything, I went to Best Buy to use my gift card and then planned on heading over. Car said my tire pressure was low, it probably was a bit low due to it being -20 out, and then it started snowing. I left Best Buy and came back home instead of going to my folks. Was like, nope, not doing it. So ya, spent the day at home by myself. Doing the same thing today but I'm doing laundry and stuff, so I have something to do.

well, that cold knocked me out for a few days....feeling a bit better now, but still not soo good. Still have a bad cough (why do I always get the cough?)
more snow, less cold, guess its a trade-off here...and flurries today.

Well I'm glad you are starting to feel better cosy! It got awfully lonely around here... We have had cold and some snow as well. Supposed to start warming up towards this weekend though. Hopefully that is true because that would be swell.

supposed to get warmer here for the weekend, might actually leave my house (havent been beyond these walls in almost a week now), have some errands to run this weekend so it being warmer would be a nice change since the last time I was out it was almost whiteout conditions and pretty dang cold. I am really ready for spring (though the news said we are just at the half way point for winter

Warmer the past couple days. So that has been nice. Sadly I got a nasty cold... Which made yesterdays 13 hour day a real joy... Feeling a bit better today. Hopefully I'll be feeling even better tomorrow. Would love to kick this thing quickly.

good luck with that---I have been able to kick the majority of mine, but that dang cough still lingers GRRRRR. Was at my appointment on Thursday and just about everyone there had the same cough--so I think this cold has made its rounds

At least its the weekend so you have a little time to try and master it.

hope to get my outside lights down this weekend--supposed to be above freezing for a while so might get it done. And then I have to do all the stuff I didnt get done while I was contemplating harrycarry

I'm just hoping it goes away quick. Luckily for me I do have a 3 day weekend, so that should help. But it did ruin my plans... Wife was supposed to come down this weekend but she has some medical test next week which require her not to take any sort of medicine for 4 days prior. So she didn't want to get sick and be miserable. I totally understand her decision, but it still sucks.

That's why I don't put outside lights up. Means I would have to take them down in the cold. No thanks!

lol....yes what goes up, must come down. Usually we get one nice weekend sometime in january to take them down...and it should be nice this weekend.

man, that suuucks big time, sorry to hear you wont get to see the mrs--but, yeah, I understand, I had to cancel a couple of things because I didnt want to get my friends sick either (one takes care of his elderly mom--and dont want her to get it)...maybe your mom will stop by and give you a hug.

yeah, it was pretty nice today, all the snow melted on the balcony so I might get my lights down tomorrow (sleep finally caught up with me so I took a few nice long naps today instead of working

). The weather might just make you feel better too (couldnt hurt). Take what you can

and a nap really sounds good right now too.

Most of the snow melted on the roads and parking lots here. But their is still some ice right behind my carport spot since it is in the shade... Might have to pick up my own salt since apparently it is too much to ask of my apartment complex to salt their parking lots...

I took a nap yesterday. It was glorious! GLORIOUS! And I think I shall have another nap today!
